Cris' Animal Friends Critter of the Week for Aug. 9th:

Ivy

I have had a rough past...I am looking for the perfect family who can give me the love and guidance I need.

When Ivy was a stray, some kind, concerned and very patient people tracked her for weeks until they were finally able to trap her and bring her to Animal Friends. Judging by the scars on her face, we can see that poor Ivy had a rough past. We wish she could tell us what she's been through.

Sweet Ivy copes with some fear, and will need both a quiet, calm, loving home and a patient, gentle owner. New things can be scary for Ivy, and we're not sure that she's ever lived in a home before. She is afraid to go down different hallways in our building and she will sometimes cower at strangers. Loud noises make Ivy jump, and for this reason, we'd like to place her in a peaceful environment.

Ivy is a gentle dog who is easy to walk on leash and even easier to fall in love with. She is very sweet with her friends and gives little kisses. She will undoubtedly become someone's best friend if they are kind and loving with her. Like all dogs, Ivy needs only positive reinforcement, but for her this is even more important. Yelling at her or getting angry would only set her progress back because she scares easily.

She takes treats gently and she is happy to be with the people who love her. Ivy is looking for a calm, adult home where people will be nurturing and help ease her fears by giving her the loving, forever home she so deserves.

She seems to be curious around dogs and we would be happy to introduce her to another dog to see how they get along. We also think she would be able to live with cats. If you are looking to save a life and create a lasting bond, Ivy is going to be worth all the work. We can tell she is eager to please and wants a home to live a normal life. Please come and meet this precious gem. She would love to meet you!
